Credit Providers Association of Lesotho

Programs & consumer education

Practical knowledge and responsible standards for a more confident relationship with credit.

Financial literacy & everyday money skills

Financial confidence starts with understanding everyday choices. Our consumer education focus includes budgeting, saving, recognising financial commitments and understanding the total cost of borrowing.

Workshop topics can include planning for essential expenses, comparing credit offers, reading repayment terms and preparing for unexpected costs. Contact the office for current workshop availability, dates and participation details. No event schedule is currently published.

Responsible lending standards

A responsible credit relationship depends on clear communication and fair treatment. We promote ethical credit practices and lending standards that support consumers’ financial well-being.

Key areas include understandable terms, transparency about fees, consideration of repayment capacity and respectful communication. These are educational principles, not legal advice or a certification of any individual lender.

Consumer protection & advocacy

Our advocacy purpose is to help consumers ask informed questions, understand their obligations and recognise where to seek assistance when concerns arise.

If you have a credit-related concern, keep a copy of your agreement and relevant correspondence, contact the provider directly, and ask the association for information about appropriate next steps. Do not send account numbers, identity documents or sensitive financial records through a general enquiry. The association is not presented as a regulator or a dispute adjudicator.

Community financial empowerment

Financial education is most useful when it speaks to the needs of the community. Our mission supports community credit training, financial inclusion and sustainable economic development across Lesotho.

Community organisations, consumer groups and credit providers can contact us about collaboration and educational priorities. Programme delivery, locations and any participation requirements should be confirmed with the office before making arrangements.
